|Pimp My Heart at The San Jose Grand Prix, CA|

July 28- 30, 2006

“Pimp my Heart” was exhibited at San Jose Convention Center as a featured project at Zero One / ISEA 2006 Festival to attract the Grand Prix fans to Zero One festival.

Installation

'47 Desoto owned by Ken Romo, San Jose local was the HBBB car for the exhibition. It not only looked beautiful but also pumped out the heartbeat bass from the two large subwoofers in the trunk.

Many motor fans visited the exhibition booth and played their heartbeat from the mobile audio.

Ken is an EKG technician at Santa Clara Valley Medical Center. This was such an interesting coincidence.

HBBB - totally new and improved

New sensor

In the previous version, the pulse oximeter heart beat sensor produced a lot of noise when the person moved. The new EKG sensor produces very few noises and is far more reliable than the previous version. With new sensor, visitors only need to grip on the electrodes wrapped on the steering wheel to listen to their heartbeats. The new system is also capable to work with wireless chest band sensor for optimum stability.

New programming

David Tinapple wrote an entire new Max/MSP code to implement the new sensor. With the combination of the new sensor, the system became very stable and reliable. New features were added to the interface such as, sound equalizer, music control panel, BPM automatic reset, and music frequency graph.
